The Games I play and Worlds that exist

23.02.2025

Here I will give an overview of the games that I'm currently playing in (and the groups I'm playing with) so that a potential reader can know what to expect in the individual campaign diaries. I'm currently playing 3 games in 2 groups. Group A is a close cirlce of friends, Group B is a group of work mates I've convinced to try out TTRPGs in 2018 and we've been playing almost weekly since.

Hundertwasser - Group A - D&D 2024

Lit. "hundred waters" is more of an unofficial name of this campaign. The setting is entirely homebrew, although going for nothing fancy. Just what you would expect in a modern D&D campaign. We are currently level 4 and one of my characters died already, more on that in the catch up post for this campaign. All you need to know that it's standard D&D high fantasy and that my GM has more of whacky humour. It's less serious, I think you would call it a "beer and pretzels" game.

Innistrad - Group A - D&D 2024

This is a campaign that has not yet begun. Our characters are made, miniatures are 3D printed but the first sessions keeps being delayed due to illness or other circumstances. It is set in the Magic the Gathering setting of Innistrad which is basically just a mixture of all Gothic horror. Vampires, Werewolves, Necromancers. Think Bloodborne as an aesthetic pointer. Notably different from vanilla D&D is the absence from most fantasy races. Elves, Dwarves, Orcs, Gnomes etc. don't exist. We have humans, (Demi)-Vampires and Tieflings. We can expect this one to be way darker and serious in tone than the other one so I appreciate the balance.

Call of Cthullhu One Shots - Group B - CoC 7th ed.

This has been going on for half a year at least already. After 2 long D&D compaigns ended we tried out other systems (like Discworld and The Witcher) but now settled for Call of Cthullhu. It's always nice to see a completely new player to first get more comfortable with playing these games and then take on the mantle of GM himself. As the title suggests here we're playing short adventures (usually 2-3 sessions long) in CoC 7th ed 1920s.
